Crime still happens around casinos, but it is rare and police are usually nearby to keep the peace.

The mob may have owned some casinos in the past, but real estate investors and hotel chains soon realized how much money they could make from gaming establishments. Combined with federal crackdowns on mafia involvement, this allowed legitimate casinos to rise in popularity across the United States.
