Many variations of poker have been created over the years. In addition to the traditional game of poker, there are many variations of poker that include bluffing and misdirection. Many of these variations are described further in this chapter. For example, three-card monte and spitting in the ocean are variants of Poker that require fewer than five cards. For groups of more than 10 players, two separate games may be set up. Ultimately, the game of poker is an extremely popular social game.

In five-card draw, players must first place an ante into the pot. After this, each player is dealt five cards. The best possible hand is a pair of kings, but a pair of aces is also not a bad hand. After the deal, betting begins. When players reveal their cards, the remaining players must bet according to the suit of the hand they are holding. If all players are in the pot, the winner of the hand will be the one with the highest hand.

In all poker variations, betting intervals are followed. The player with the highest poker hand, called the “pot,” wins the pot. In addition, the player with the highest-ranking poker hand wins the pot. If no player calls his bet, he or she is known as the “cutoff.”
