Poker

Typically, a poker game is played with a group of at least eight players. The game is played with a deck of cards and a large round table. The objective of the game is to collect the most chips from your opponents. There are numerous variants of the game.

One of the simplest forms of poker is to place a bet at the end of each round of play. This bet is called the ante. This bet is typically $1 or $5. The ante is the smallest bet in the game.

Poker games also require players to place a bet at the beginning of a hand. This bet is called a blind. The blinds are used to provide players with something to chase.

One of the most common forms of poker is called hold’em. In hold’em, players use two hole cards and three board cards. The player who wins the hand collects the pot without showing the cards.

Other poker games include lowball and split pot poker. The latter is a variant that was popular in the 1900s. The best poker hand may be the aforementioned hors d’oeuvres.

A game called stud poker was also introduced during the American Civil War. This variant allows players to place a bet with their own money or chips. Some variants award the pot to the lowest ranked hand.

Another poker variant is called a draw. Players draw cards from a deck of cards that the dealer has shuffled.
