Poker is a card game with many variants that are played by millions of fans worldwide. Generally, players have “chips” (money to bet with) and are dealt two cards, then five community cards are revealed. The aim is to make the best 5 card hand using your own cards and the community cards – the highest hand wins. Each player must bet in turn, attempting to get other players to fold so they can win the “pot” (all the chips that have been raised in one betting interval).

Most forms of Poker can be played with 2 to 14 players. Some games use multiple decks of cards and some even include jokers as wild cards. The rules usually specify the suits and ranks of the cards, with Ace being high.

The game is generally played with a fixed limit, which means that each player may only raise his or her bet by a fixed amount in any betting interval (usually twice as much after the draw as before it). This can create a high level of tension in the game because it makes it harder to bluff.

To add to the drama of the game, try to focus most of your attention on the reactions of other players to the cards that are revealed. Describe who flinched and smiled, who raised their bets and who folded, as these are the things that will make your story interesting and believable.
